Founded in February 2021, Lanao Women’s Association (LAWA) is dedicated to sustainable practices that respect the environment and support local communities. By choosing LAWA Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), you support local farmers and women in business.

Our History

2018: In July 2018, 24 women attended a meeting in Barangay Lanao to discuss the future of women’s organizations in the community. They decided to form an organization that would benefit all members. This organization would include women who like to cook, sell items door to door, and more. This led to the development of a successful consumer store.

2019: In December 2019, the Lanao Women’s Association (LAWA) was officially accredited by the Philippine Coconut Authority Region 7 and officially registered by the Department of Labor and Employment Region 7.

2020: After COVID-19 hardships, the women of LAWA began producing virgin coconut oil. The Philippine Coconut Authority Region 7 (PCA) granted LAWA with training and seminars on how to best produce this commodity.

2021: In February 2021, we began our production of virgin coconut oil. Our team of 10 women worked on production, sub-contracting workers, selling.

2022: As of August 2022, LAWA had 70 active members. We hope we can give more employment to members and also to the community. We strive to reach our goal of empowering women and help our country reduce unemployment.
